Liz Haywood-Sullivan

November 8-10, 2022
Sponsored by the Degas Pastel Society
The Degas Pastel Society is proud to announce Liz Haywood-Sullivan will conduct a three-day
pastel workshop in conjunction with judging the DPS 19th Biennial National Exhibition in the
Mattie Kelly Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College. The workshop will be held at the
Bayou Arts Center in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.

The sky is the most emotional aspect of any landscape painting. It sets the mood, time of day and the
attitude of your painting. Water makes up 70% of the earth’s surface and is a frequent subject of
Landscape painting. In this three-day workshop we will investigate sky and water’s
individual characteristics and how to render them. On Day One we will work on techniques for clear
skies and creating believable clouds. On Day Two we use underpainting to explore the layers of
transparency in water, and Day Three we put the sky and water together to explore their interactions.
There will be daily demonstrations along with plenty of one-on-one instruction at your easel.
