Degas Pastel Society’s 40th Anniversary Lifetime Achievement Award
On the 40th anniversary of the Degas Pastel Society, we are honored to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Alan Flattmann, the society’s sole founding member still actively involved. Over a remarkable 50 year career, Flattmann has become one of the most revered pastel artists in the U.S. He is a Hall of Fame inductee with the Pastel Society of America and an Eminent Pastelist in the International Association of Pastel Societies. Known for his contributions to pastel painting, including his influential book The Art of Pastel Painting, Flattmann’s work has been widely recognized in exhibitions and publications worldwide. We celebrate Alan Flattmann’s incredible contributions to the world of pastel art, his role in shaping the Degas Pastel Society, and his lasting legacy as an artist, educator, and mentor. His work continues to inspire and influence generations of artists, and we are honored to recognize his achievements with this Lifetime Achievement Award.
